After much ado, I present my first attempt at a dragon. A heck of a lot cutting went into this as it is constructed from 4 separate plates. The body plates were hammered to form a 3D piece......but this did not go so well. There was much re-hammering.......soldering.....grinding...polishing. What a pain.
But all my griping aside, here it is.

Sheet copper
Swarovski crystals

Sailing out of *joharasaluki's imagination and onto dA like a viking ship of old, comes Copper Tribal Dragon. A wicked, tribal design offsets the delicate copper framework to create something that is as beautiful as it is fearsome. ( Featured by `oilsoaked )

I love it. I work with copper, this gives me ideas for variations on what I have been doing.

What gauge copper are you using here?

Thank you. Having the scroll saw, nibbler and cam punch makes a huge difference.

very nice work!
like the final color
is it from the metal or did you add any enamels or patina on it?
how long did it take to finish it?

Thank you kindly.

The copper was only polished, tho' I should have applied a clear coat to prevent tarnishing.

I don't recall how long this took. While I'm stooped over the scroll saw I don't notice the time. It is very intricate work and very difficult to cut small pieces on a power scroll saw. Before you ask, no, a jeweller's saw is not an option, not deep enough.

TY for the fave.

This doesn't have any coating on it, but I am currently working on another sea turtle and I will coat it with a lacquer.

hi!

I currently dont work metals
will get to it when I make more space
in my work shop

I think a sea turtle would look great with some deep green
patina on it.

great work!

Green patina? I haven't heard of that. Maybe I'll just let it oxidize 'til it turns green.

mmmm....
perhaps its not exactly a patina...

there is a oxide green kind of lacquer
that can be applied on metals to give it that tone
